chasing daisy

During our initial meet-up, takumiskyline often dropped the name of a certain "Daisy". I got curious so i ask. Guess what I found out. No, its not a girls name, it's not even Donald Ducks love interest, and nope its definitely not the flower! So WHAT is it?
As I found out, takumiskyline refers 1:18 die-casts as DAISY/ DAISIES. How the F--K does a girls name be connected to a 12 inch long model car ? Well as he excitedly explained, these are his words exactly - " In tagalog ( a dialect in here in the Philippines ) 18 is called - DISIOTSO - ( its actually spanish my dear friend ) , DISI sounds like DAISY right?" yeah right.
DAISY/DAISIES is a locally coined slang word for 1:18 die-casts,that he stated started as a joke amongst DCPH members who went to a local bar that had an attendant named Daisy - lets skip this particular "incident" for takumiskylines sake -
As he narrates , he is now very fond of his "Daisies" that he even called me up to inform of his latest one.
a SUBARU NEW AGE IMPREZA WRC 2003 PLAIN BODY VERSION (WHITE) by AUTOART
which he got from a fellow DCPH member that gave him a very nice deal ( he even got lost going to the sellers house ). Takumiskyline along with his friends drove all the way to the sellers house in the middle of the night texting and talking through takumiskylines crappy gadget he calls a mobile phone just to get lost twice, one waiting in front of a wrong house and the other at a dead end of a street in the middle of nowhere. He recalls how his friends wanted to kill him -  you wouldn't want this guy to be sitting next to you as a navigator Mr. Petter Solberg

After much delay, the bunch finally found the sellers house, got hold of his prized catch ( his friends got some very good deals as well ) but before calling it a day, he  found out that the seller was selling another white daisy. - thats for another entry .

He claims to be in love with "Daisy" and even promises to show us his previous buys. Takumiskyline even maintains a thread for his " white daisies" on DPCH. Lets see how things unfold, what his garage holds for us ( i haven't seen a single skyline yet! ) - bert

takumiskyline wants to extend his thanks to his friends Joey, Marc and especially Dareen (wakoko group) for the help in acquiring this particular piece. ( the garage by the way is a gift from Dareen, he and his brother Dennis forms D @ D WORKX ( TOM TEES ) the duo makes great dioramas such as this and customs your favorite die-cast with uttermost attention to detail, they also make made to order quality shirts )

takumiskyline whines about AUTOARTs upcoming endeavor : the NISSAN SKYLINE GT-R ( BNR33 V-Spec )

"Good news for my collection; bad news for my wallet" - takumiskyline

"Alas!
After waiting endlessly for those metal model car manufacturers to make the seemingly neglected model the NISSAN SKYLINE BCNR33 GT-R ( in 1:18 scale at least ) , finally someone from AUTOART noticed there aren't any. So there making one.. yahooo! To be released sometime this September 2009 ( i hope my wallet is ready ) , model number 77322 a.k.a. NISSAN SKYLINE GT-R (R33) V-SPEC - WHITE released under AUTOARTs MILLENIUM priced around 115 USD or around 6,000 Pesos will be the final piece to my all white GT-R generations in 1:18. Having the first GT-R the KPGC10 by KYOSHO, the successor KPGC110 also by KYOSHO, my R32 by AUTOART, the R34 and R35 also from the same maker, hence the R33 will be bridging the GT-R generations from R32 to R34.

Another devastatingly good news is that AUTOART has released quite a few GT-Rs . The bayside blue nismo "sport resetting " version R34 , the midnight purple R34 V-Spec and the signature model SILHOUETTE . Hey wait theres more! Other manufacturers such as EBBRO and KYOSHO will also be introducing tons of new GT-Rs ( SKYLINES ) in various scales ! WHEWWWW... hold on to your wallet Bigbert , AUTOART is about to squeeze you! ( i hope there's still some juice left )"

He's technophobic no more!

Finally! Yes finally! I have convinced this guy to be the subject of my blog. After years of creeping into other peoples blog and not having the guts to start my own, I finally found a dumb willing subject for a blog.
Presenting -takumiskyline- a father of two equally eager boys who influenced him to rekindle his love for cars albeit scaled down version of his favorite car make the NISSAN SKYLINE GT-R. Why the GT-R I asked him "Well , why not? I'm Asian and since I grew up seeing just these Japanese cars roaming our streets everyday who wouldn't? JDM  RULES! GT-R is the KING of the road! " he enthusiastically quips. Actually he didn't grew up around SKYLINES and he didn't even knew about  GT-Rs, not until he reached high school. His first encounter with the real GT-R was way back  in his first working years as a family man when he and his cousins usually go to GreenHills Shopping Center ( a local shopping haven here in Manila ) aboard a red AE92 Corolla with a locally sourced out cheapo header , a Nodalos muffler , lowered ride height ( these idiots cut the stock springs of the poor car ) and a D.I.Y. crap he calls a sound system to watch rich kids and adults alike test the mettle of their rides in the quarter mile. Soon after that eventual moment he fell in love with the SKYLINE to the extent he even dreams of eventually driving his own GT-R ( poor guy ) - That brings us back to why he collected die-cast  in the first place ,because - he can't owe one! ( the GT-R or any other Japanese high performance sports car for that matter )
Takumiskyline as he narrates, started or went back to  die-cast collecting  when his two children finally convinced him to buy them die-cast , he did so every week as a coming home present every time he's on a day-off , as his father did to him when he was still a very young child. The vague memory of his  first die-cast was a black or dark colored car with opening doors - "probably a TOMICA ?" I asked him, he nodded to agree. As the children eventually lost interest on die-cast ( well not both children as the youngest is still fond of playing with them - he actually now collects LIGHTNING McQueens from the Disney PIXAR film flick ) he used the hobby of collecting die-cast as an excuse to release all the stresses he claims he gets from working as a supervisor for an Italian Restaurant, which as of the of writing he is not anymore associated with - and  yes his current designation is a BUM. For now he claims to be just a collector of  mostly Japanese sports car marques.
In the hopes to live up to my blog heroes such as JDM Mike and Architect Jovet I will share all the die-cast collecting adventures and misadventures takumiskyline will be encountering, write about the stories behind each model in his collection and at the same time  know the real score about this guy who calls himself "takumiskyline".
